Infantile eczema

The skin of babies is thinner than adults and even a mild stimulant would cause skin rash. It is common around the area of the mouth and the diaper area, but it frequently resembles Candidiasis, a fungual infection. To distinguish infantile eczema from fungal infection, microscopic test may be conducted.

The management includes topical emollients and short course of topical steroid of an appropriate strength, depending on the body area, such as the head, the face, the neck, and the trunk. We recommend the use of hypo-irritant body foam, shampoo, and conditioner.
