Psoriasis

The normal cycle of the skin cell is around 30-90 days. Patients with psoriasis pathologically have shorter turnover period of the skin and the renewal of the new cell is 10 times faster than the normal. The areas such as the elbows, buttocks, shins, and head are the common site of the symptom, with scaly and erythematous macule and plaque. The nail change may be observed. The causes are unknown, but it is considered by dermatologists that genetic factors, as well as lifestyle such as meals, obesity, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia are all related to the development of the condition.

The management of psoriasis generally include topical steroid and topical Vitamin D3 in addition to antihistamine to control itch. Oral etretinate (brand name - Tigason), ciclosporin (brand name - Neoral), or apremilast (brand name - Otezla) are prescribed in severe cases, but all these medicine require blood test in addition to probiotics to control diarrhea as the side-effect. We do not have a facility for UV therapy. Injection therapy with "Biologics" medicine may be started at a university hospital and other certified hospital and be continued at us.
