Melasma / Chloasma

Melasma(Chloasma) is common among female over 30 years old. It is seen as facial pigmentation with clear and irregular boundary on both side cheeks. Sun light aggravate the pigmentation and it becomes less obvious in winter. Pregnancy may trigger the onset.

Oral medicine may be prescribed to manage this condition. Hydroquinone and tranexamic acid may be prescribed, although these are not covered by Japanese Health Insurance.
