Erysipelas / Cellulitis
Erysipelas and cellulitis are bacterial infection occurring at deeper layer of the skin than impetigo. The most common site of erysipelas is the face of one side and the skin swelling and redness are the major symptoms. Cellulitis is common in the area below the knee and as cellulitis worsens, the area expands over and above the knee area.
The management of both conditions requires oral antibiotics, and probiotics are frequently prescribed. We do offer blood test within the clinic to evaluate the severity of the disease. In need of hospital care, we refer the patient to a higher function hospital. We are affiliated with the following hospitals :
- JCHO Tokyo Shinjuku Medical Center
- Tokyo Medical University Hospital
- Center Hospital of the National Center for Global Health and Medicine
